At present many words are being wasted about the fortifications of Genoa, but nobody acts concretely to increase their value. These ancient works are mainly neglected; they are considered as touristic itineraries or as study subjects. The notions included in this site are the result of a very long research made in several Archives. The aim is to introduce these masterpieces of military architecture to the public, so that a hypothetical visitor may learn, with full particulars, how, when and why they were built. Only if we are acquainted with their history, can we truly appreciate and respect these fortifications.
